Here’s a link to a really heartwarming video. View the video FIRST, before reading my comments below. Oh yeah, and it is much better with sound, so turn on your speakers. 🙂

I recently received an email with a link to this video clip. This particular clip is of a commercial that airs on standard television channels in Norway. My initial reaction to the clip was one of two-fold awe. Firstly, the clip depicts a beautiful scene of one boy admiring another and having the courage to approach him, even in a world that doesn’t tolerate homosexuality. Secondly, I have respect for the country of Norway for allowing it to receive air-time. In more fascist conservative nations, the Pope-loving Catholics and other religious fundamentalists, political Neo-Nazis, overbearing moralists, and the simply asinine, narrow-minded jerks would have torn this commercial to pieces.

At the end of the clip, it says:

Du trenger ikke å være så tøff

Which roughly translates to “We don’t need to hurt one another” or “You don’t need to be so mean.” I think the video sends the perfect message; we can’t just ‘tolerate’ other people, but rather, we need to love them and their differences. I hope you’re as moved by this freedom of expression as I was (and still am). Stunningly beautiful.

Car is due back tomorrow

I talked to the shop today and I will definitely get my car back tomorrow afternoon. I’m pretty excited about it. The only thing I’m worried about is that I’m supposed to pick it up around 15:30 and then I have to be back at school for a conference at 17:00. That’s really not a whole lot of time, especially if there is traffic. Well, since Kyle will be powering my car, I guess I can just set it to ‘Bat-Mobile’ mode. 😉

Engine update…yet again

Today I went to go check on the car. Kyle is in place and everything seems to be going smoothly. I had to bring up the fuel lines so that the fuel could go from the firewall line to the block itself. I notice something quite odd though. It looks like there is a big smudge on my rear bumper. As I get closer, I realize that it is actually a hole. While installing the battery in the trunk, the tech drilled through the bumper. It was an accident, so I really couldn’t be angry. They are paying to have it repaired.

On a nicer note, I get to take a bunch of unopened parts back to the Acura dealer. They didn’t need them because they either came on the engine, or my stock ones worked fine. I’m pretty excited about getting some of that money back.

I hope that the full swap will be done sometime tomorrow afternoon. The tech told me he didn’t think that would be a problem at all, and that he would call.

That’s all for now.
