New installation of Gentoo

After hours of researching and examining new Linux distros, I decided to go with an updated version of Gentoo (2006.1). I’m installing it firstly on my test machine (Green), and then possibly on Blue if I like it. The only thing that I noticed that was somewhat interesting about this particular distro is that it differentiates significantly between x86 (i686) and amd64 installations. I know that all distros will have separate installer modules for those architectures, but this one seems to have large differences.

Anyway, I hope to play around with it for a little bit this evening and then more later on this weekend. I’ll post about my feelings on the new OS when I’ve had enough time to mess around with it for a bit.
