I got a phone call yesterday that my new bike I ordered came in. Unfortunately, I’m not going to be able to pick it up until Monday. It is a Trek 1500 Discovery Edition (sponsored by the Discovery Channel for the marathon). The bike is an aluminum frame and has carbon fiber forks. Personally, I like the idea of having a complete Shimano drivetrain. That’s something I’ve never had on a bike before. I know it isn’t the best drivetrain components that they make, but it way better than anything that I’m used to.
For more information about the bike, visit Trek’s site on it at: http://www2.trekbikes.com/bikes/bike.php?bikeid=1440000&f=3. When you look at the site, be sure to note the differences in the form of the Discovery Edition and the standard edition of the 1500. You can easily see some differences just by changing the image colour.
Here’s a picture of the new bike (click to enlarge):
Let me know what you think. 🙂
